Our
Love Story

How we met

THE GROOM: Our story began in November 2013, we met at YPC (Youth church). From the moment our eyes met, you can say there was a lot of chemistry. Even as we pursued our studies in different cities, we stayed connected; phone calls, texts, and the full works. What we did not realise at that point, was that we had started a long-distance love story; different cities, different universities, the full works over the next five years. In 2018, fate intervened when my internship brought me to Lagos, just a heartbeat away from TREM (remember the youth church right?). We reunited on April 1st after four years apart, and the sparks began to really fly.

Work and Dating

THE BRIDE: After graduation, he moved to Abuja and not too long after, he recommended me for a position where he worked. My successful transition to Abuja launched my career and reignited our connection. We spent more time together, sparks everywhere! And before you know it, love enters the picture. After many restless nights, the young man gathers all the courage in the world and asks the big girlfriend a question on November 3rd, 2019! We began dating, the official beginning of our relationship.

THE GROOM: A few months in, Adeola landed a dream job at a VHCI Lab in Lagos right after Covid. Within two years, she bagged a scholarship to Ireland. She moved from Abuja to Lagos, from Lagos to Ireland. This was a dream come true for her, and I cherished the joy it put in her heart, but this meant we were back right where we started in 2013, only this time, many many more miles divided us. It was hard but we learned to embrace the distance, our love growing stronger, of course not without its challenges.

Growing Stronger

THE GROOM: We cannot even lie, it was not easy to stay apart for so many years and still make things work, we have been very intentional with each other. Many special visits, thoughtful surprises, and family introductions were some of the ways we did our best to deepen our connection. Gradually.

Yes! She said Yes

THE BRIDE: One nice cosy evening in February 2023, David is acting all lovey-dovey, unknowing to the young madam (yours truly), I genuinely thought it was a simple dinner date. It was a beautiful dinner date and a nice restaurant too. A good evening for love, good music, and the whole restaurant to ourselves. A nice recipe for some knee bending and when the mood was just right, he dropped on one knee, gave a heartfelt speech of love and devotion and popped the question. Well, of course, I said YES and here we are today.

Let’s make it official

THE GROOM: I found my God’s Gift and my Good Thing, so I took my family for the first official visit to the Babatundes to get to know their future in-laws. Both families fell instantly in love with each other. Wedding plans began officially not too long after…
